About Serre Chevalier

A ski resort with its village at 1,460 m and its top at 2,765 m. It has 157 km of runs and 70 lifts, as mapped on OpenStreetMap. The runs drop 1,546 m, from 2,765 m to 1,219 m. For beginners and families: 60% of the km of runs are green or blue. For experts: 17 km of black, expert and freeride runs. Within 5 km of the village: a public pool, an ice rink and a ski school. It is usually in season from December to April. The snow is usually deepest in March, about 1.6 m at the top (2,765 m). For skiers the best months are usually February and March, with about 6 good days in 7. From the weather of past years. The town to stay in is La Salle-les-Alpes. Within 5 km we also list 3 kayak spots, 1 climbing area and 1 mountain bike area.
Serre Chevalier is a major ski resort in Southeastern France, near the Italian border, located in the Hautes-Alpes department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Situated to the northeast of Écrins National Park in the French Alps, the resort encompasses a large skiing area, with 250 km (155 mi) of slopes and favourable weather, boasting 300 days of sunshine a year. In Serre Chevalier, 80 km (50 mi) of the slopes are covered by snow cannons to supplement natural snowfall. The resort is owned by Compagnie des Alpes.
Serre Chevalier consists of the city of Briançon, the villages of Chantemerle in Saint-Chaffrey and Villeneuve in La Salle-les-Alpes, as well as Le Monêtier-les-Bains. World Cup champion ski racer Luc Alphand was born and lives in the valley below the resort. It will host freestyle skiing during the 2030 Winter Olympics.
